You Only Get One Wedding

A year and a half ago, my husband and I were married in a small (but SO fun to plan) 1920s wedding. It was so successful that afterward I was wishing we could get married all over again. I’ve had all kinds of ideas since then that I would love to use in a wedding, but of course, you only get one wedding — assuming you stay married to the same person, that is.
I wouldn’t have changed the 1920s theme for anything, but I think I probably could have chosen a more interesting venue. (We got married in a winery that is located in a 140-year-old church.) For instance, I think a castle backdrop would have complemented a 1920s theme nicely, even though it’s not technically in keeping with the theme. This castle wedding venue would actually have been perfect, since it was built in 1918 — just two years before the Roaring Twenties era.
Of course, it never would have worked to have my wedding in Michigan – we had it in that Missouri winery specifically because my husband’s family, who lived in Missouri at the time (they recently relocated to be closer to us), couldn’t travel!
Weddings are so much fun. Perhaps that’s why the divorce rate is so high — the wedding is more fun than the marriage is!
