Candle Scents and Emotions

I’ve been thinking of the sort of cultural and even religious significance that candles have in our day to day lives. Think about it. We blow out birthday candles when we celebrate another year in our lives, and use fragrant jar candles to set the mood when we are in the mood for romance. We light candles in church when we make a wish or seek a special blessing, or to ask for divine healing, and then we light candles again, when we remember those who have passed. It’s probably something we don’t pay too much attention to, but lighting a simple candle is such a symbolic gesture, and so full of meaning. If you really think about it, we probably light a candle at every important occasion in our lives, and then some!

We use candles to for more than to commemorate our existing emotions. When we light aromatherapy jar candles, we expect a perceptible shift in our mood, lifting of a pall of gloom, and the opening of new clouds of hope and joy. Whether simple candles, or fragrant richly scented candles, these flickering pools of light reflect our mood, and lift our spirits in ways we never reflect upon.
