Arguing About Garage Plans
By conArch on May 15, 2008 in Real Estate

My husband and I anticipated that we would do a lot of arguing about our house plans before we finally settled on a good design. After all, we were building the home that we hoped to raise a family in and we wanted it to be perfect. So we were thrilled when we were able to easily agree on the plans for the house. You can imagine how much it caught us off guard when we discovered that we couldn’t agree on plans for the garage.
We had ordered the plans for our house from a company called Archway so we went ahead and ordered garage plans from them as well. The plans themselves were fine but my husband and I couldn’t agree on which plans were the best ones to go with. I wanted plans that incorporated a lot of room for shelving and storage. He wanted plans that used all of that extra room for a motorcycle we didn’t even own.
I think the problem was really that we hadn’t anticipated that there would be any problems in figuring out the plans for our garage. We knew that the house was a big deal so we were careful to communicate well and ended up avoiding a lot of issues as a result. But we just kind of had to hash out the garage plans until we finally reached an agreement.
