Tips for Becoming a Great Link Builder

Anyone who has a blog probably knows that the only way to get attention to it is to get links from other blogs and websites. These links allow the ranking value of your blog to increase so you do better in search engine searches. They also get people to click from another site to your blog. So, in order to be a great blogger, you need to be a great link builder.

Here are some basic tips for building links:

  • Subscribe to the RSS feeds of blogs that are similar to yours. Use them to regularly read those blogs and then comment on each post that you find interesting.
  • Include a lengthy blogroll on your own site. Also include weekly "link love" posts that point to other blogs you like. Those bloggers are likely to link back to you in a you-scratch-my-back-and-I’ll-scratch-yours fashion.
  • Get help from a local search engine optimization company. (For example, if you are in Tampa, get a Tampa search engine marketing business to bring local attention to your site.)
  • Stay on top of Web 2.0 changes. How linking works and benefits bloggers changes all of the time so stay abreast of the news to be at the top of the game.

Your blog isn’t worth much if no one is visiting it. Make sure that you’re encouraging people to find you by building links on a regular basis.
