Mechanics and Poker Games Don’t Mix
By Conus on Oct 16, 2008 in General
I had an interesting chat with a fellow at the local card game. Apparently he is a mechanic at the local paper mill. He was telling us all about the lubrication systems for the paper mill. Of course when I say interesting, I mean I have absolutely no clue what he was talking about. As soon as he started talking about oil flow monitor problems and what he need to do to fix them, my brain switched to “I wonder if I am in the mood for Chik-Fil-A or Hardees.”
Of course as soon as he got started, a friend of mine that works for city works started going on about water flow measurement devices at the local water treatment plant. All this talk about sensors and meters and gadgets was a little over my head. Granted, these guys I am sure are fantastic at what they do, but they could have been talking Greek. Of course, I may have paid more attention if they were speaking Greek. I would have tried to figure out what they were saying. Of course, once I figured out they were talking about some type of machinery; I would have probably tuned them out again.
