How Would You Archive Online Dating Services?

When online dating services first got started, there were so few of them that they didn’t really need separate categories. However, people’s dating interests are many and varied and it soon became obvious that there was the need for a number of different specialty sites. I don’t know the history of how these specialties first started, but I can imagine from basic dating differences that they went from your average “I am a man seeking a woman” to “I am a (blank) seeking (a range of blank)”.
These days, there are online dating services for all sorts of different niche specialties. The military single who wants to find a bride overseas needs only look on a site devoted to that specialty. Likewise, the married seeking to have affairs, the adventurous couples hoping to add a third to their party, and the nerds wanting to find other brainiacs only have to seek out the right online dating services and they’re all set.
This is great for the seeking single but if you were going to archive all of the different types of online dating services, where would you even begin? Would you try to separate out the sites that offer dating tips from the sites that offer only personals connections? Would you try to make a category for every single niche option out there? Or would you keep things as general as possible and hope you could find your way through the growing index of options?
